Opinion Piece: China–and not the rest of Asia–is a relative winner in a Trump 2.0 world

In this op-ed for The Herald, Bruegel Senior Fellow Alicia García-Herrero zooms in on the potential impact of the Trump 2.0 administration’s policies on the Asian region.

Contrary to the first Trump administration, as well as the rhetoric of the Trump campaign leading up to the US elections, it looks like China might be the relative winner of the current policies pursued by the US, domestically as well as abroad. On the other hand, countries like Japan, South Korea and India stand to be the relative losers as the US increasingly pursues an isolationist economic policy and transactional approach to the international system.
