Opinion Piece: China’s position on Israel leading to a cold war
Bruegel Senior Fellow Alicia García-Herrero offers her take on what we should make of China’s response to the attacks on Israel. Grouping the event together with September 11 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine given their shared characteristic of being able to “change the course of the world”, Alicia also takes a closer look at the regional and global ramifications of the recent attacks. Similarly to the two other events, the current one splits the world into blocks – with China making use of this – and thus brings the world one step closer to a cold war.
