China’s global trade influence: where do we stand?

China has long been expanding its economic influence globally, but the last few years have brought important changes that need to be monitored. In this closed-door event, Bruegel researchers shared their, based on social network analysis, on how China has gained centrality in global trade, as the largest community, but with a relative loss since the pandemic in favor of other communities, especially India. During the discussion, they dived deeper into the reasons for this development and the consequences for the European Union.
