Illaria Carrozza’s work focuses on understanding how China uses a variety of tools to extend its influence abroad and challenge the existing world order. Her current research covers topics including China's foreign policy; dual-use technology and artificial intelligence; great power competition; the Digital Silk Road; and the Belt and Road Initiative. Her broader research interests include China’s relations with countries in Africa and Asia, especially with regards to security matters; China's military power; and the international order.
